21 Getting Started
Turning the computer off
You can turn off the computer either with the Power key on the keyboard or
by choosing the Shut Down command in the Special menu.
Using the Power key
To turn the computer off using the Power key on the keyboard, follow these
instructions:
1 If the computer is in sleep mode (the monitor is on but the screen is dark), press any key
except Caps Lock to wake it.
2 Press and hold the Power key on the keyboard for about 2 seconds.
The following dialog box appears on the screen:
3 Press the Return key on the keyboard (or click the Shut Down button in the dialog box).
Choosing the Shut Down command
To turn off the computer by choosing Shut Down from the Special menu,
follow these instructions:
1 Move the tip of the arrow (

) to the Special menu at the top of the screen.
2 With the tip of the arrow on the word “Special,” press and hold down the mouse button.
