RAM DRIVE.SYS Device Driv er
Note: When you turn off or warm start your computer, all
data stored in
RAM
disks is lost (for DOS versions earlier
than 6.0).
The
RAMDRIVE.SYS
device driver enables your computer to
use some of its memory as if it were a hard disk drive.
Called a
RAM
disk (and sometimes a virtual disk), it is much
faster than a hard disk because its data is always loaded
into
RAM
.
RAMDRIVE.SYS
puts the
RAM
disks into the
memory area above 1 MB.
Note: Using the
RAMDRIVE.SYS
device driver increases the
size of
MS-DOS
resident in memory.
Install and use this device driver as described in the
Microsoft MS-DOS User’s Guide and Reference.
