to block these ports if the CMS is not to be managed from another system.
Installing VCEM
IMPORTANT: VCEM 7.1 supports the Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) browser. Virtual Connect
Manager versions earlier than VC FW 3.30 only support IE8 in IE7 compatibility mode. Use the
IE8 Developer Tools settings (Tools
→Developer Tools or press F12 on your keyboard) to select IE8
mode when using versions of the VCM GUI prior to 3.30. Using IE8 mode to access the VCM GUI
with firmware versions prior to 3.30 can cause incorrect operations. Similarly, using IE7
compatibility mode when accessing the 7.1 VCEM GUI can cause incorrect operations. For a list
of browsers supported by VCM, see
“VC firmware browser support” (page 15) .
When you are upgrading to a new and different CMS, or are moving to a 64-bit CMS, you might
need to migrate your data by using the Systems Insight Manager data migration tool. If you are
upgrading to a new version of VCEM on the same CMS, data migration with the Systems Insight
Manager data migration tool is not necessary. For more information, see the HP Insight Management
7.1 Installation and Configuration Guide.
To install VCEM, follow the steps provided in the HP Insight Management Installer. To access HP
Insight Management online help, click the ? icon in the upper right-hand corner of the window.
