Object model summary
Each class in the profile is subclassed to a vendor-unique extension.

Client discovery
SMI-S clients performing discovery of the virtualizer and component profiles first check in the SMI-S
Agent's Interop namespace for a RegisteredProfile instance whose RegisteredName = "Storage
Virtualizer". Once this instance is located, the SMI client then traverses a cross-namespace
ElementConformsToProfile association to Storage Virtualizer's ComputerSystem class in the vendor
namespace.
The Storage Virtualizer's ComputerSystem class acts as the scoping class for all other component
profiles. Once an SMI-S client reaches the ComputerSystem, the client may discover elements within
the Storage Virtualizer Profile, or leverage associations to component profiles' elements. Most
component profiles will have at least one association which links the component profile's central class
to the Storage Virtualizer's ComputerSystem.

Health and fault management considerations
The HPSVSP_ProductNameAppliance and HPSVSP_PrimordialStorageExtent classes convey their health
state using the OperationalStatus property. SMI-S clients can be notified of a ComputerSystem
OperationalStatus change by subscribing to indications. The component profiles associated to Storage
Virtualizer define additional health and fault management for component elements related to the
virtualizer.
Classes
HPSVSP_StorageAppliance : CIM_ComputerSystem
Class introduction
This class models the top-level system of a Storage Virtualizer. There will be one instance of this class
for each SVSP domain.
This class is uniquely identified by the CreationClassName and Name keys. The Name key is the
SVSP domain that the Storage Virtualizer represents. Instances of devices managed by this SVSP
domain in component profiles will contain keys with the SVSP domain name present or encoded.
Indications
•
Name: VSM Domain Creation
• Filter: SELECT * FROM CIM_InstCreation WHERE SourceInstance ISA CIM_ComputerSystem
• Description: Indications are triggered when a new SVSP domain is created or detected.
•
Name: VSM Domain Deletion
