4. In the dialog box, specify the host name. You can also specify the following items as required:
• Path Options specifies a LUN path when considering the path redundancy or specifying the
port to be used.
• Host Groups and LUN Settings specifies the host group name, host mode, LUN, and other
items when there are operational rules for the system or application.

5. Click the Show Plan button.
6. If there is no problem with the plan, execute it.
7. View a list of tasks to make sure that all tasks are completed.
Allocating volumes by using the existing settings
You can allocate volumes by using the existing settings. The allocated volumes are added to the logical
group to which the existing volume belongs.
Tasks to complete before allocation:
• Registering storage systems and hosts
To allocate volumes by using the existing settings:
1. Expand the tree in the Resources tab, and then select an allocated volume that has the settings
you want to use.
2. Click the Allocate Like Volumes button.
3. Modify the settings, if necessary, and then create a plan.
4. If there is no problem, execute the plan.
5. View a list of tasks to make sure that all tasks are complete.
If you want to check which logical group the allocated volumes were added to, click the link for the
task name in the Tasks & Alerts tab.
About path management
When you allocate a volume to a host, P9000 Command View AE Suite assigns paths between the
volumes and the host. You can add, delete, or change these paths from either the host or storage
system.
You can manage paths from a list of allocated volumes in the Storage Systems tree, Hosts tree, logical
group, and from a list of volumes returned from a search. You can manage paths by selecting multiple
volumes.
Volumes allocated to hosts belong to a specific host group. The same target host port is set for all
volumes in any given host group. Therefore, when adding or deleting a target host port for one or
more volumes, you must select all of the volumes in that host group.
Editing paths
You can add, delete, or change the paths between any resources.
