Allocating volumes to a searched resource (Keyword Search)
You can efficiently search for a target resource such as a storage system, host, or volume, and then
allocate volumes in an environment in which many resources are managed. By using Keyword Search,
you can text search the names of storage systems, hosts, volumes, parity groups, THP pools, and
logical groups.
Before you allocate volumes to a host:
•
Registering hosts and storage systems
Information that needs to be confirmed beforehand:
•
Information about the target resource (the search key such as the name of storage system or host)
•
The number and size of volumes required
In addition, if there are conditions (such as drive type and parity group) that you want to specify
according to the operating environment, check them in advance.
If you specify a tier and then select volumes from the tier, the Tiered Storage Manager license is
enabled.
To allocate volumes to a searched resource:
1.
From the drop-down list for the search box in the top right corner of the window, select Keyword
Search for object-name.
2.
Specify the search object-name and then execute a search.
3.
From the search results, click the link for the storage name or host name. The appropriate location
in the Resources tab is displayed.If necessary, select the lines of hosts or volumes, and then click
the Allocate Volume button.
4.
Specify the necessary items, and then click the Show Plan button.
5.
If there is no problem with the plan, execute it.
6.
View a list of tasks to make sure that all tasks are completed.
Allocating volumes to a host by searching (Search)
You can efficiently search for volumes by specifying flexible conditions by using Search, and then
allocate the searched volumes to a host. Volumes selected from the search results have been allocated
to the host.
Before you allocate volumes to a host:
•
Registering hosts and storage systems
Information that needs to be confirmed beforehand:
•
Information about the target resource (the search key such as the status and type of volumes, and
performance conditions)
•
The name of the target host
To allocate searched volumes to a host:
1.
From the drop-down list for the search box in the top right corner of the window, select More
Searches.
2.
Specify the search conditions and then execute a search.
3.
From the search results, click the lines for the target volumes. Click the Allocate Volume button.
