BraKe Fluid
The level of the brake fluid in the compensating reservoir should be checked before every trip.
Two marks will be seen on the compensating reservoir. The brake fluid level should always be
between “Min” and “Max”. If the “Min” mark is reached the brake pads should first be checked
for wear. If the pads are not worn examine the system for leaks.
Only use DOT5.1 brake fluid. The brake caliper is prefilled with DOT5.1 and the system must be
matched to this brake fluid. In normal road traffic the brake fluid should be exchanged at the
latest every two years. For racing applications we recommend that the fluid is exchanged after
every race.
BraKe pads
The brake pads are worn
when the groove on the sur
face is no longer visible.
Procedure: In principle it is
always best to leave the
brake caliper mounted while
the brake pads are
exchanged.
Remove both split pins on
the inside (in the direction of
the spokes) and pull out the
bolts while pressing on the
holding plate. After this
inspect the pad mounting
place for dirt and remove it.
caUtion: Please use only appropriate brake cleaners since otherwise the seals can be dama-
ged. Also check the pistons. If contaminated they must be cleaned before they are screwed
back into the brake caliper. After cleaning, screw the pistons back in and then insert the new
pads. The mounting of retaining spring, bolt and split-pin should take place in the reverse order
as for the dismantling.
caUtion: We strongly recommend that the bolt and split-pin are exchanged together
with the pads.
