Tuning multicast parameters
NOTE
The following commands are specific to the Brocade NetIron CER and Brocade NetIron CES devices:
Mutilcast to Unicast descriptor ratio
Multicast weight
Multicast descriptor limit
Multicast Traffic class mapping to Fabric Traffic class
Multicast to Unicast descriptor ratio
The qos-multicast mcast-unicast-desc-ratio command defines the number of Multicast Descriptors
Duplications per Unicast Descriptor. The default value of this field is 1 which means there is one
multicast descriptor replication per unicast. In multicast intensive environment user may want this
parameter to be increased to 2 or 4 to give a better replication ratio to multicast traffic.
Brocade(config)# qos-multicast mcast-ucast-desc 1
Syntax: [no] qos-multicast mcast-ucast-desc-ratio ratio-value [ppcr
The ratio_value parameter has a default value of 1. Valid values include 1, 2, and 4.
The ppcr_id parameter is an optional keyword. Valid values: 0 - for ports e1/1 - e1/24; 1 - for ports
e1/25 - e1/28; 2 - for ports e2/1 - e2/2.
Without the ppcr id the command will set the descriptor ratio on all packet processors. If the ppcr id
is specified then the command will set the descriptor ratio on only that packet processor.
Multicast weight
The Unicast/Multicast Arbiter in Hardware is WRR (weighted round robin). The defaults weight of
Multicast and Unicast is assigned as 1. In a multicast intensive environment you may want to
assign a higher multicast weight.
Brocade(config)# qos-multicast mcast-weight 15
Syntax: [no] qos-multicast mcast-weight weight-value [ppcr
The weight_value parameter has a default value of 1. Valid values include 0 - 15.
The ppcr_id parameter is an optional keyword. Valid values: 0 - for ports e1/1 - e1/24; 1 - for ports
e1/25 - e1/28; 2 - for ports e2/1 - e2/2.
Without the ppcr id the command will set the weight value on all packet processors. If the ppcr id is
specified then the command will set the weight value on only that packet processor.
