have any free movement. Slightly loosen lock nut and back-off upper valve
keeper 1/3 turn. Hold valve keeper with wrench and tighten lock nut against
keeper to secure adjustment. Valve spool should spin freely but not move up or
down.
11. Install two o-rings on valve spool; lubricate o-rings with LUBRIPLATE®.
12. Place four o-rings on valve sleeve; lubricate o-rings with LUBRIPLATE®.
13. Slide valve sleeve (o-rings down) into cylinder head. Align detent trip ball holes
in sleeve with detent trip spring retainer hole in cylinder, and screw detent trip
spring retainer into cylinder head to maintain hole alignment to accomplish next
installation.
14. Place o-ring on cylinder head cap; lubricate cap thread and o-ring with
LUBRIPLATE® before assembling in cylinder head. Hand tighten only.
15. Slide valve rod assembly spool into valve sleep in cylinder head. With fingers,
press bushing past ring groove in cylinder head.
16. Install snap ring in retaining groove in cylinder head to lock bushing in place.
17. Lubricate ball, spring and detent trip spring retainer with LUBRIPLATE® and
install in opposite side to detent trip spring retainer previously installed. Remove
this retainer and insert ball, spring and retainer in this side also. Secure both
retainers wrench tight.
18. Screw silencers in cylinder head finger tight.
19. Place gasket in cylinder head. Hold on head with LUBRIPLATE® grease.
Center Casting
1. Install o-ring in upper o-ring groove in piston rod bushing. Lubricate o-ring with
LUBRIPLATE®.
Piston Rod Assembly
1. Apply red grease into open side of both piston cups. Slide 1 piston cup, open side
up, on piston body. Push spacer, grooved side up, against cup. Install second
piston cup, open side up, against spacer, Install back-up ring, grooves against cup,
on piston body. Lubricate threads on piston body with special red grease and
screw on piston nut. Secure nut wrench tight.
Note: To change packings see instruction sheet on page 48. Pumps being used
with abrasive materials have cup assembly reversed somewhat. See page 16 and
refer to your parts drawings.
2. Place piston ball in piston body assembly. Install conical shaped spring between
ball and piston rod (small end of spring toward ball). Special grease thread on
piston rod and thread piston assembly onto rod. Tighten with a suitable wrench.
3. Form packing compression group by assembly female ring, 4-piece set of chevron
packing and male back-up ring. Use special grease between each piece in this
assembly. Lubricate, with special grease, the cavity in the lower end of the center
