Note: optional rotor numbers are:
77706-6 (6-
blade) ½” strand length
77706-5 (5-
blade) ¾” strand length
77706-4 (4-
blade) 1” strand length
77706-3 (3-
blade) 1 ¼” strand length*
*standard in all chopper units unless otherwise specified.
Note: Larger roving cutters use different rotors than above.
7. Install chopper blades in the slots provided in rotor, with the blade retainers and
spring.
Note: The sharp edge of the blades should be slightly dulled by stropping on
cardboard prior to insertion in rotor. This intentional dulling of blades by whetting
process will avoid slicing and nicking of rubber roll and will assure longer life of
both blades and rubber roll.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:
To install blades in rotor:
a. Make a composite of the blade, retainer and spring.
b. Locate the deep side of the slot in rotor.
c. From the side of the rotor, slide spring, retainer and blade into slot with the blade
against deep side of slot.
CAUTION: It is mandatory that the blade aligns with center line of rotor.
d. Center spring, retainer and blade in rotor.
e. Press retainer and spring to bottom of slot with applied pressure of a screwdriver
blade.
f. Press blade to bottom of slot by pushing blade against a wooden block or cardboard.
To remove blade, retainer and spring from rotor, insert a screwdriver blade in the
end slot of the retainer and lift up on the screwdriver. This will remove the blade,
retainer and spring safely and rapidly.
