Central System Installation
Pumping system installation is similar to wall mount, however the resin pump received will
have a threaded foot valve with inline filter and a 1” street ell to receive a 1” plumbing.
(High volume units are equipped with 2” plumbing.) The installation from pump to resin
supply line should include a nipple from the ell, union coupling, nipple and shut-off valve
between pump and supply line in the order specified. This will allow repairs at the station
without shutting down the bulk supply system. (Plumbing described is not included with
the unit.)
It will also include a 5-gallon catalyst jug which can be mounted to the left of the resin
pump (facing pump) at a location on edge of plywood sheet, 12” from the bottom. Secure
jug bracket to plywood with lag screws (see detail VIII).
A typical HIS Central (bulk) System is shown in detail X for your convenience. Additional
accessory items for central or bulk systems may be found in your Magnum Venus
Products catalog.
Installation of Units on Flat Base
Saturators, Hydrajector, Hand-Held Casting Units all have similar installation procedures
as the Chopper units with the exception of the boom, column support and portable cart.
As they are virtually t assembled, the same procedures with the component and hose line
installation can be followed. With Hydrajectors and Casting Units, there will be a static
blender in Component Box 1 which is attached to the gun’s outbound flow port.
Airlift mounted pumping units (Hydrajector and Casting Units) are designed to lower and
raise pumps from drums to eliminate even the minute possibility of air pick-up in these
critical applications. Assure overhead area is clear to allow lift to rise to its full height.
When first raising lift (manifold hose with quick disconnect is used) check all hoses to
assure they are free. To raise lift, connect to quick disconnect and apply approximately
60 psi air. When pump is lifted to full height, align bung in drum with pump foot valve. To
lower, disconnect fitting. A few trial runs will give you smooth control (see Detail XI).
The MVP HIS Gelcoater is virtually the same system with the exception of long
accumulators and a carbide spray tip. The long accumulators (also used on High Volume
units) provide even greater amounts of material available to assure constant delivery in
this very critical application. The carbide tip gives longer life under abrasive gel coats
while providing an orifice of greater precision creating a better fan with gel coat in which it
is more difficult to break the particles and achieve good spray.
A heated Gelcoat unit will contain a heater, plus bracket which will be tagged with
mounting instructions. Full operating instructions, trouble shooting and parts drawings will
be included with your heater. Read thoroughly prior to operating heater.
