Chopper Assembly Procedure (’80 Model)
The chopper assembly procedure, as described, is the factory recommended method.
MVP will not be responsible for any damage to unit if the recommended procedure is
not followed.
Parts are first assembled to form subassembly units. The subassemblies are in turn
assembled to complete the chopper. The drawings supplied in conjunction with this
procedure will help simplify this process.
1. Place proper socket screw for tightening air motor into hole in manifold block. Now
screw blower tube into manifold block.
2. Position o-rings into o-ring grooves of manifold block.
3. Place manifold block (o-rings toward motor) on air motor flat. Blower tube on
manifold block should be facing same direction as shaft of air motor. Tighten
socket screw using hex wrench.
4. Screw tube fitting into hole in manifold block (wrench snug). Teflon thread tape is
recommended for good seal.
5. Screw lock ring onto speed thumbscrew. Screw speed thumbscrew into hole in
manifold block.
Note: This thumbscrew controls velocity of air motor.
6. Screw lock ring onto blower thumbscrew. Screw blower thumbscrew into hole in
manifold block (hole in manifold block is aligned with blower tube).
Note:
Blower thumbscrew is to clear chopper of excess glass ‘fuzz’ build-up.
Opening this valve too much will distort spray fan pattern.
7. Place idler bearing eccentric into hole located next to raised platform side of base
plate. Lightly lubricate eccentric before installing.
8. Insert air motor assembly into base plate. Care must be taken to line up blower
tube and air motor with proper holes in base plate. Air motor assembly goes into
holes in base plate on raised platform side (see drawing).
9. Screw set screw into base plate locking air motor assembly in place.
CHOPPER
Base Plate Assembly (’80 Model)
1. Place cap screw through sleeve with bearing (opposite the flush end first) and
place washer onto cap screw. Screw this assembly into eccentric already placed
on base plate.
Note: do not tighten this assembly yet.
2. Insert other eccentric into hole on base plate (hole located toward front of base plate).
3. Press rubber roll onto roll mandrel.
