12.1 General maintenance instructions
General
information
z
Normally, all screw joints of the logger housing can be opened and closed
by hand, without using any tools. If necessary, use a paper towel so you
can get a better grip on the parts.
z
In the screwed condition, no gaps may be visible at the joints.
z
Prior to unscrewing any screw joints, clean the exterior of the logger (see
section 12.2 E
) and dry it thoroughly.
z
Prior to reassembly, clean all internal and external threads thoroughly.
Contaminated threads can get stuck by-and-by. Normally, the threads can
be screwed together without using any effort and without noticeable
grinding (sand particles).
z
Clean all O-rings prior to reassembly. Dirt, e.g. fibers, on the O-rings can
affect the tightness. If the O-rings are damaged, they have to be
exchanged (see section 12.5 R
12.2 Exterior cleaning
Clean the logger with tapwater and a soft sponge or brush. Remove the
protective hood when you want to clean the measuring cell.
Cleaning the
measuring cell
We recommend to clean the measuring cell thoroughly, especially before
measuring low conductivity values.
After cleaning, thoroughly rinse with deionized water and recalibrate if
necessary.
Aging of the
conductivity
measuring cell
Normally, the conductivity measuring cell does not age. Special measuring
media (e.g. strong acids and bases, organic solvents) or temperatures that
are too high may considerably reduce its lifetime or lead to damage. The
warranty does not cover failure caused by measuring conditions and
mechanical damage.
Contamination
Cleaning procedure
Lime sediments
Immerse in acetic acid for 5 minutes (volume
share = 10 %)
Fat/oil
Clean with warm water that contains
washing-up liquid
