Probing with optical edge detection
Probed feature points can be entered manually or automatically using optical edge detection.
Manual point entry using optical edge detection
To enter a point manually:
1 Click the Probe/Edge menu item.
2 Select the desired feature type or Measure
Magic from the Measure menu or from the mea-
sure toolbar.
3 Cross a light to dark or dark to light transition
(light contrast edge) at the desired location. The
system will generate a beep to indicate that the
edge was recognized. Click Enter Pt in the Mea-
sure dialog box.
If a measurement error occurs, click Remove Last
in the Measure dialog box to remove the last point probed, or click Cancel to cancel the entire feature
measurement.
When all the required points have been probed, click OK in the Measure dialog box. The feature will be
added to the Features template and to the Part View window.
NOTE
When multiple light contrast edges are crossed, the system enters only the last edge
crossed as a data point.
When all the required points have been probed, click OK
in the Measure dialog box. The feature will be added to
the Features template into the Part View window. Mea-
surement results will be shown in the Results window.
