You can shut down a DFE‐Gold module in an operating system using the
OFFLINE/RESET
switch shown in Figure 4‐2 . There are two procedures to shut down a
DFE‐Gold module.

Recommended Shutdown Procedure Using OFFLINE/RESET
Switch
Before pulling a DFE‐Gold module out of a chassis,
press or tap on its OFFLINE/RESET switch for less than 1 second.
Its CPU LED changes from solid green to blinking between green and amber, indicating
that the module is shutting down. At the end of the shutdown routine, the CPU LED
changes to a 67%/33% sequence of amber/off, respectively, indicating the module is in a
halt state. In this time it is safe to restart or remove the module from the chassis.
