Chapter 7 Playing Clips to Air
• Use Ctrl + the arrow keys to step through 10 frames at a time
• Use Shift + the arrow keys to step through 1 second at a time
If desired, you may display trim controls by selecting
View | Channel Edit Controls
and setting a new starting point with the Mark In button.
When you play the clip, the clip starts at the new position.
NOTE: The X-keys jog/shuttle controller can be used as an alternative to jogging via
the keyboard and also allows shuttling of the clip. See
Playing Clips
During a news broadcast, you play clips either according to the script or when the
director signals you.
To play a clip:
1. If not already cued, cue the clip to the desired channel.
To cue a clip, drag and drop it into a channel window.
2. Click the
Play
button in the channel window.
The Play button is a toggle and changes to
Stop
when clicked; to stop a clip during
play, click the
Stop
icon to pause it. Click
Play
to resume playing the clip.
You can also play the next clip in the playlist by clicking
Play Next
in the Aurora
Playout toolbar.
In addition, you can control clips in the playlist by using GPI inputs, X-keys and the
keyboard function keys. See

for details.
Archiving Clips
The Archive Play feature allows you to automatically play all clips in a playlist on a
selected channel and record the output of that channel on a VTR.
