7.6 Appendix F – Setting up an “ad hoc” wireless network
If you do not have a wireless router or access point, you can configure
your computer to set up an ad hoc wireless network when the CD24
comes within range.
To configure Windows XP to set up an ad hoc wireless network:
1. Open the Control Panel and select Network Connections.
2. Right-click on the Wireless Connection icon and select
Properties. Switch to the Wireless Networks tab.
3. Under Preferred networks, click Advanced. Select Computer-to-
computer (ad hoc) networks only.
Ensure the Automatically connect to non-preferred networks box
is not ticked. Click Close to return to the Wireless Network
Connection Properties window.
