The battery provides data retention of one year summing up all periods of actual data use.
Artesyn therefore assumes that there usually is no need to exchange the battery except, for
example, in case of long-term spare part handling.
A.2
Procedure Description
The following procedure describes how to exchange the battery.
Board/System Damage
Incorrect exchange of lithium batteries can result in a hazardous explosion.
When exchanging the on-board lithium battery, make sure that both the new and the
old battery are exactly the same battery models.
If the respective battery model is not available, contact your local Artesyn sales
representative for the availability of alternative and officially approved battery models.
Data Loss
If the battery no longer provides enough power, the RTC is initialized and the data in the
NVRAM is lost.
Exchange the battery before one year of actual battery use has elapsed.
Data Loss
Exchanging the battery always results in data loss of the devices which use the battery
as power backup.
Back up affected data before exchanging the battery.
Data Loss
Installing a battery type other than the type installed by the manufacturer may cause
data loss since other battery types may be specified for other environments or may have
a shorter lifetime.
Only use the same type of lithium battery as is already installed.
