A resource can implement the full or the simplified hot swap model. The supported full hot
swap states are:
– Not present
– Insertion pending
– Active/healthy
– Extraction pending
– Inactive
 E-Keying
E-keying prevents damage to AdvancedTCA blades, verifies fabric compatibility and
prevents mis-operation.
 System event log
Each event generates an entry in the system event log maintained by the shelf manager.
 Power management
The shelf manager controls the power budget of the shelf.
 Cooling management
The shelf manager controls the cooling of the shelf. The cooling management is based on
the IPMI infrastructure of the shelf and the temperature sensor event generation.
1.3.2 Remote Access
Remote access can be executed via remote HPI and RMCP.
1.3.2.1 Remote HPI
ATCA-MF106 provides HPI based utilities for remote accessing and remote management. HPI
based utilities allows to retrieve, monitor and modify the attributes of the system. 'hpiipmi' is
one of such utility in which the IPMI commands can be sent to a particular HPI resource.
Following are the sample 'hpiipmi' remote accessing commands:
 Send GetDeviceId command (Lun=0, Netfn=6, Cmd=1) to resource 49 on domain 1:
hpiipmi -d 1 -r 49 0 6 1
 Send GetSelInfo command (Lun=0, Netfn=a, Cmd=40) to resource 30 on domain 1:
