The ATCA-MF106 consists of the dual ATmega IPMC as a front-end to the IPMB in the shelf, and
the "Service Processor" based on a PowerQUICC, which provides the management functions.
The ATCA-MF106 is designed for redundant operation in AdvancedTCA shelves. Usually, two
ATCA-MF106 shelf managers are deployed in one shelf, one of which takes the role of active
ATCA-MF106, the other acting as standby ready to take over in case of failure of the active one.
Redundant channels for heartbeating and checkpointing between the two ATCA-MF106 are
provided.
The ATCA-MF106 shelf manager supports the following components:
Freescale’s MPC8306S PowerQUICC processor with embedded PowerPC core
ATmega128L (master) and ATmega8L (slave) micro-controllers from Atmel
64 MB SDRAM memory
64 MB redundant boot and user flash
Dual redundant IPMB interface
Two 10/100 Mbps Ethernet interfaces to the rear connector and one 10/100 Mbps
Ethernet port to the face plate
Power brick supplying 3.5 A at 3.4 V (conventionally referred as 3.3 V)
Two serial (differential) ports to the rear connector
Local temperature sensor
Block transfer interface through the FPGA
LED indicators
