Hemming and Edging Stitches

Use this attracnve scallop stiich to create
scallop ed^es or decorate your sewmg
projects, such as collars, pockets or place-
mats. You can create a delicate appearance
on thin tabrics. such as chiffon, usmg a single
layer of fabric with a tear-away backing for
support while stitching.
You can also use this scallop stitch to sew
decorative edgings on the hemlines ot dresses
or sleeves.

1. Sow your scallops at least 3/8" from the toided edge.
2. After stitching, inm fabric close to the stitching. Be careful not to cut the
thread.
Helpful Hints
For thin fabrics!
Use a single layer of fabric with a tear-sway backing tor support while stitching.
For hemlines and sleeves:
Use a tear-away backing, if necessary.
For collars, pockets or craft projects:
Place mtertacing between the layers of fabric to provide stiffness.
