SECTfON 5. LEARN THE STITCHES
Corded Buttonholes
Use this procedure when you want to
achieve a tailored, more attractive raised
buttonhole.
Use filler cord iat least 15 inches oi heavy
thread!.
Try B practice fauttonhoie first.
1. With the buttonhole toot raised, hook the filler cord on the cord spur at the back ot the buttonhole foot.
2.
Bring the ends toward you under the buttonhole toot until they clear the tront end.
3.
Hook the filler cord into the torks on the front ot the J foot to hold them light.
4.
Lower the needle imo the garment where the buttonhole will start and lower the toot.
5. Sew the buttonhole according to the buttonhole sewing jnstructions on p. 72 to 73.
Each side of the buttonhole and the banacks will be sewn over the cord.
6.
Remove the fabric from the machine and cut the sewing threads.
7. Pull the right end of the filler cord to tighten it.
8. Thread the end through a darnmg needle, draw to the bottom side of the fabric and
cut.
