Zigzag Stitches

This stitch pattern combines the straight and
the zigzag stitches, using the overedge toot,
to stitch and overcast seams m one step.

It also iS a stretch stitch to provide elasticity

tor knits and extra strength lor woven

labncs.

Use this stitch when you warn a narrow

seam that you do not need to press open

flat. It IS ideal lor 1/4" seams on knits
(when anaching ribbing) or on medium to
heavyweight woven fabrics where you want
3 narrovj seam.

1.

Place your fabric so that the raw edges

fit under the wire guides srtd touch the
black ridge and brush guide,

2.

Gently guide the fabric so that the raw

edges always touch the black ridge and

brush guide.

NOTE: When sawmg over several thick­

ness (under arms, in crotch, etc.)
raise the presser foot slightly to
ease the prasser toot over the hump
and keep stitches tram bunching.

3.

When you stop sewing, remove the

fabric by drawing it to the back and
out. The fabric or stitching will catch
on the

guides if you pull it toward

you.
