Closed Capiioning
When you watch a program that is being broadcast with closed
captioning, you can access on-screen boxes containing the pro
gram’s dialogue (for example, what a character is saying), dialogue
in a foreign language, or information (such as a channel guide,
schedule, or announcements). Follow the steps below to select
closed captioning.
Not all TV programs and commercials are broadcast with closed
captioning. Similarly, all types of closed captioning (second lan
guage, screen text, etc.) are not always broadcast If closed cap
tioning is not broadcast, you cannot receive it This does not Indi
cate a problem with theTV/VCR. Refer to your area’s TV pro
gram listings for the shows offered with closed captioning.
Press the COMBI button, then the MENU button to dis
play the pop up menu.

Press the Play/A button or the Stop/T button to select
CAPTION.
Press the Rewind/Search/- button or the Fast
Forward/Search/+ button to select your desired mode.
The selected closed captioning mode will appear to the right of
CAPTION on-screen.
o CAPTION I displays standard closed captioning (what a charac
ter is saying),
o CAPTION2 displays foreign language closed captioning (foreign
language words showing what a character is saying),
o TEXTl andTEXT2 display half screen text (such as a channel
guide, schedule, or announcement),
o OFF turns closed captioning off. Captions will not appear on
screen.
