Inspecting the Packing and 0-ring
The packing and the 0-ring make this camera waterproof
to a depth of 5m/16.4ft. underwater, in order not to iose
the camera's waterproofing, foiiow the directions in this
section, “inspecting the Packing and O-ring". A grain of
sand or a singie hair can cause water to ieak into the
camera.
•Racking: The orange rubber frame inside the back cover.
O-ring; The biack rubber ring inside the battery cover.
1. When you exchange the fiim or battery, aiways check to
see that the packing

O-ring

and any mating
surfaces X X are not scratched or dirty
2. Use a moistened cotton swab to remove any sand, hair,
or other particies from the packing, O-ring, and any
mating surfaces, if you use the camera when these
components are scratched or dirty, the camera wiii not
be waterproof and wiii break when you immerse it in
water, in this case, the camera cannot be repaired.
Replacing packing and O-ring
Please replace the packing and the O-ring every 2 years at
a Canon service facility, even if they are not scratched or
warped. If you frequently use this camera in sandy or dusty
places or underwater, however, we recommend that you
change both every year.

Please do not wipe the camera with grease.
