Transporting

!

WARNING

Towing the planter at high speeds or with a vehicle
that is not heavy enough could lead to loss of vehicle
control. Loss of vehicle control could lead to serious
road accidents, injury and death. To reduce the hazard,
do not exceed 20 mph.

Before transporting the planter, follow and check
these items:

!

WARNING

The planter places large loads on the tractor 3-point
hitch in transportation position. Check your tractor
manual and dealership regarding appropriate tire
pressure and front end ballast to carry this load. Too
little front end ballast may cause loss of control.

Set tractor 3-point hitch control for depth con-
trol.
If the tractor 3-point hitch is set for load
control, the auto load control response may auto-
matically adjust too high in given circumstances.
This will result with the wing locks disengaging on
the road.

Remove seed box. Remove seed box before
transporting if at all possible.

The planter can be transported with a full box of
grain, but the added weight will increase stopping
distance and decrease maneuverability.

Transport planter only while in folded position. Re-
fer to “Folding the Planter,” page 21.

Warning lights. Always use warning lights when
transporting the planter.

Road rules. Comply with all federal, state and lo-
cal safety laws when traveling on public roads.

Clearance. Remember that the planter is wider
than the tractor. Allow safe clearance.

Transporting with Markers. Always transport
markers in the folded position.

Marker Transportation
Always transport markers folded flat. Make sure
second marker section rests securely on trans-
port carrier.
