Fan Operation
The fan must be operated with the return oil line con-
nected to a low back pressure sump return on the
tractor. Check with tractor manufacturer for proper
connection of oil sump return line. A low back pres-
sure quick disconnect is supplied with the planter for
ease of connection to the tractor sump return line.

Use tractor remote hydraulic valve flow control to set
fan speed.

Run fan at 4000 rpm in operation.

When starting empty you must blow seed out to the
meters for one to two minutes to fill meters.

Watch monitor and adjust fan speed by increasing or
decreasing hydraulic flow from tractor.

The monitor has a level sensor below hopper to warn
when box is empty. This gives three to four acres of
run time before rows start going empty.

Electric Clutch Operation

Refer to Figure 18

Electric clutches allow you to turn seeding off while
the planter is lowered. A clutch for each drive shaft al-
lows you to control each side of the planter
independently. The clutches are controlled through
the in-cab control console.

For regular field operation, turn the electric-clutch
switches on the control console to the on position.
This will activate the magnet on each clutch and allow
the clutch shafts to rotate.

To shut off seeding in one or both sides to accommo-
date point-row while the planter is lowered, turn one
or both switches to the off position.

Y-Tubes

Refer to Figure 19

Y-tube gates can be shut off to feed only one row for
planting 30” corn on 15” machines. Corn rows are the
rear set rows.

You can also shut off the Y-tube gates to clean out the
air system and meters. Refer to “Cleaning Out Air
System,” page 60.

Check air lines to be sure they do not have any sags
or kinks in them. The air box has internal gates that
may have to be adjusted if air system plugs repeated-
ly at box outlets. This adjustment is a last resort item,
check fan speed and hose routing first.
