Manage users and groups with Xsan Admin
When you first set up your SAN controllers, you can use Xsan Admin to manage
SAN user and group accounts. An Open Directory master is created on your primary
metadata controller, with replicas on your standby controllers. You can then use Xsan
Admin to create or remove user and group accounts.
Manage users and groups with another app
If you choose not to manage accounts using Xsan Admin because you already have
a network account server, also called a directory server, use the appropriate directory
management tool to add or delete accounts.
If a Mac with Mac OS X Lion Server is your network accounts server, you can use the
Server app to manage user and group accounts. If your network accounts server has
Mac OS X Server v10.6 Snow Leopard or earlier, you can use Workgroup Manager
to manage user and group accounts. In either case, users can connect their Macs to
the network accounts server in the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences (the
Accounts pane in Mac OS X v10.6).
Add SAN users
Only users in the SAN’s directory can log in to a client computer and access Xsan
volumes. You can use Xsan Admin to add users to the directory on your primary
metadata controller.
