Find out which controller is hosting a volume
Control of a volume can move from one metadata controller to another as a result of
controller failover. You can use Xsan Admin to find out which metadata controller is
hosting a volume.
The controller that
is currently hosting
the volume
View a volume’s metadata controller:
In Xsan Admin, select Volumes in the SAN Assets list and look in the Hosted By column.

From the command line
You can also find out which metadata controller is hosting a volume by using the
cvadmin
command-line tool in Terminal. Open Terminal on the controller and enter:
$ sudo cvadmin -e select

List the volumes hosted by a controller
You can use Xsan Admin or the
cvadmin
command-line tool to find out which SAN
volumes are being hosted by a metadata controller.
List hosted volumes:
In Xsan Admin, select Volumes in the SAN Assets list, and click the title of the Hosted
