Destroy a SAN
Follow these steps to take a SAN out of service and remove its metadata controllers,
clients, and volumes.
WARNING: Removing a SAN destroys its volumes. Data stored on the volumes is no
longer available.
Destroying a SAN also removes all Xsan configuration files from all SAN computers.
If Xsan Admin is managing users and groups, or the metadata controllers were
configured to get user and group accounts from an existing directory server,
destroying a SAN destroys any Open Directory replicas on standby metadata
controllers and disconnects SAN clients from the directory server.
Destroy a SAN:
1 If you want files located on the SAN volumes to be available after you remove the SAN,
back up the files.
2 Open Xsan Admin and click Overview.
3 Choose Destroy SAN from the Action pop-up menu (gear).
