High Capacity Features
High Capacity Features
The 5258ACL tape drive accepts the Super DLTtape 1 cartridge. Native and compressed
capacity ranges for the Super DLTtape 1 cartridge are:
•
Native storage capacity = 110 GB
•
Compressed storage capacity = 220 GB (2:1 compression ratio)
In accordance with industry practice, a typical compression ratio of 2:1 is quoted. Actual
compression ratios achieved are dependent on the redundancy of data files being
recorded.
Backward Read Compatibility (BRC) Transfer
Rates
A backward read compatibility feature is available for the 5258ACL drive, which allows
it to read formats written on DLTtape IV type media. Transfer rates quoted are nominal
reading uncompressed data.
Embedded Diagnostics
The 5258ACL provides three levels of embedded diagnostics:
•
The Power-On Self-Test (POST) can perform various verification tests on the
processor’s host interface and device control functions, as well as memory tests at
power-up.
•
User diagnostics allow you to change configuration options and provide manual
control of cartridge movement to assist the user in diagnosing faults.
•
CE Diagnostics include more advanced diagnostics to be used by service providers
for servicing the ACL. Both User Diagnostics and CE Diagnostics can be selected
from the front panel.
