SRD…-HART (HART positioners model code "-xHxx")
The setpoint source should be set to analog for normal operation . For maintenance functions or special requirements,
the analog setpoint can be overwritten by setting the setpoint source to digital to position the valve using a digital
communication device such as the Intelligent Field Device Configurator . The positioner will then only accept digital setpoint
commands from the configurator . After testing of the positioner, ensure that the setpoint source is set back to analog again,
otherwise the positioner will not accept any analog setpoint changes .
Valve Type
This is a single-byte field with values that defines the type of valve attached to actuator . Five types are defined:
• Globe
• Rotary
• Plug
• Butterfly
• Diaphragm
Globe is the default .
Choose the proper valve Type .
NOTE:
N
This is for reference purposes only—the selected option does not impact the positioner’s control behavior .
Control Action
This is a one-byte flag with only two possible values . The parameter Control Action can be configured either to Direct-acting
(increasing setpoint increases pneumatic output) or Reverse-acting (increasing setpoint lowers the pneumatic output) . This
feature is also available in the push button menu of positioner’s PCB .
Control Algorithm
Valve Stem Movement
Select the Valve Stem Movement from the following options:
◊ Linear/Left Mounted (globe valve, positioner spindle to the left of the valve stem)
◊ Linear/Right Mounted (globe valve, positioner spindle to the right of the valve stem)
◊ Rotary, CCW (quarter turn, counter-clockwise to open)
◊ Rotary, CW (quarter turn, clockwise to open)
NOTE:
N
If the Type field shows a Globe valve, the Valve Stem Movement field defaults to Linear/Left Mounted .
If the Type field shows a Rotary valve, the Valve Stem Movement field defaults to Rotary, CCW .
This feature is also available in the push button menu of positioner’s PCB .
Powerup Action
This is a single-byte parameter that controls the positioner behavior with digital input when power is applied . This parameter
controls what the positioner does when the digital setpoint is lost . Online is the default .
NOTE:
N
Even though the positioner is online, it will not enable the fail safe timer until it sees the very first setpoint
communication from the host .
For Digital input, the operator may configure the Powerup mode to either Online or Fail safe . Online allows the positioner to
start responding to setpoint from control system as connection is achieved . When using Fail safe, you can define the exact
position of the control valve upon Powerup . Available options, listed under Fail Safe Config are as follows:
