3. The following will happen:
• Win-Situ synchronizes the baud rate of the device to the host PC.
• Win-Situ “finds” (connects to) the device(s). For a modem connec-
tion, Win-Situ initiates a phone call.
• The status bar at the bottom of the screen shows the state of
communications between Win-Situ and the device.
• After the connection is made, the device appears in the Navigation
tree.
4. Click to select the device in the Navigation tree. If more than one
device was located, select the one you want to talk to first. Note the
device information shown on the right side of the screen.
SECTION 2: GETTING STARTED
TIP: If the device
does not appear in
the tree, there may
be a communication
problem between Win-Situ
and the device. Check (1)
the COM port, (2) the
hardware connections, (3)
the device’s battery or
external power.
