7.3.2 Curtain Controls

7.3.2.1 Set Ratios

Ratios are a factor of your Hired Hand curtain machine installation. The ratio is a
way to show the relationship between the curtains and the machine. If your
machine’s load block moves one inch for every one inch of curtain movement you
have a 1:1 ratio. If your machine’s load block moves one inch for every two inches
of curtain movement you have a 1:2 ratio.
To adjust the ratio setting use the select features up arrow until “Set Ratios” is seen
in the left hand display. Then use the change setting up or down arrows to adjust
the ratio settings. You will first set unit 1 ratio, then press select feature up. Next
enter Unit 2 ratio using the change setting up or down arrows. When you are
finished, press the select feature up arrow to move to the next prompt.

7.3.2.2 Initial Drop

Initial drop is the distance the curtains will open on their first drop from closed to
open. After that drop if curtains need more opening, the controller will open them
further. The curtains will not stay open at a position less than the initial drop. This
opening has been known as a “Dead-band” in the past.
To adjust the initial drop use the select features up arrow until “Initial Drop” is seen
in the left hand display. Then use the change setting up or down arrows to adjust
the initial drop setpoint. When you are finished, press the select feature up arrow to
move to the next prompt.

7.3.2.3 Run Adjustment

The controller comes from the factory set to move a certain amount for each degree
temperature difference. If you feel that this amount is too much or too little, you
may adjust the “runtime” with this option. The factory setting is 100 percent, so if
you feel the machine is running too little, you might set it at 120 percent, or if the
machine is running too much, you might set the runtime at 80 percent.
To adjust the runtime, use the select feature up arrow until the words “Run Adjust”
are seen in the left hand display. Next use the change setting up or down arrow keys
to adjust the setting. Press select features up to move to the next option

7.3.2.4 Degrees Above target Before Machine Operates

In most cases it is better to try to lower a slightly high building temperature back to
target temperature with fans rather than curtains. This setting allows you to set a
minimum temperature difference between target temperature and the point the
curtains start opening.
For example: If your target temperature is 75 degrees, and your house temperature
is 77, it would be much easier to just turn on an extra fan than to start opening and
closing curtains. With a degrees above target setting of 3, the curtains would not
start opening unless temperature reached 78 degrees. This also extends curtain
cable life by minimizing the opening and closing effect that a tight temperature
control would bring.
To adjust the degrees above target setting use the select features up arrow until
“Degrees above target before machine operates” is seen in the left hand display.
Then use the change setting up or down arrows to adjust the degrees above target
