16. Glossary
Artificial Lighting: The use of electric light bulbs instead of natural sunlight.
Auto Kill Fans: The action of stopping the fans when the curtains are moving.
Automatic Mode: Mode where The System is using all resources, including side-wall
curtains, to maintain target temperature.
Controller Front Panel: The panel on the front of The System 2001™ Power Curtain
Controller box where the operator programs The System by pushing
the red buttons and selecting the desired feature.
Cool Delay Unit: The curtain that is selected to be delayed.
Cool Mode: The method of cooling the building; possible choices include Cool
Negative, Cool Negative/Tunnel, Cool Stir, and Cool Tunnel.
Cool Negative: Method of ventilation where air is drawn out of the building by fans,
creating a negative static pressure which draws air into the house from
all openings at a even pace.
Cool Negative Tunnel: A combination of the Cool Negative and the Cool Tunnel Modes.
Cool Side Delay: The action of one curtain (usually the north side) waiting while the
other curtain drops a specified number of inches.
Cool Stir: The action of a fan to stir the air; can operate anytime that there is not
a tunnel situation.
Cool Timer A stage on cool timer will run as any stage on the timer, but only after
it has been turned on by temperature exceeding it’s offset plus
differential.
Cool Tunnel: This stage will only operate when The System has gone to Tunnel
mode via the Outside Sensor mechanism and only when the curtains
are correctly located.
Degrees Above Target
Before Machine Operates: The amount of degrees above target temperature that determines when
The System switches from power ventilation to natural ventilation.
Differential: The distance in degrees above or below the offset where the heat or
cool stage will engage.
Fans Negative to Stir: The turning of negative ventilation fans at an angle to be used as stir
fans to circulate the air in the building.
Fluctuate: To change constantly between opposites, used in Expanded Mode
where the Timer Percentage will adjust with the outside temperature.
