Brocade Virtual ADX System Management

Getting started configuring the Brocade Virtual ADX

The Brocade Virtual ADX Application Delivery Switch (Brocade Virtual ADX) is configured with
default parameters that allow you to begin using basic features of the system immediately.
However, many advanced features must first be enabled at the system (global) level before they
can be configured. Use the Command Line Interface (CLI) to configure system parameters and find
these system level parameters at the Global CONFIG level of the CLI.

Perform the following steps to get started configuring the Brocade Virtual ADX:

1. Use the enable command to enable privileged EXEC mode:

Virtual ADX> enable

2. Use the configure terminal command to enable global configuration mode:

Virtual ADX#configure terminal

Virtual ADX(config)#

In addition to configuring system level parameters, you can use the Global CONFIG level of the CLI
to save changes to the running configuration.

Use the write memory command to save changes to the running configuration:

Virtual ADX(config)#write memory

The maximum configuration file size is 1.4 megabytes.

Setting up local user accounts

For each user account, you specify the user name. You can also specify:

A password.

The privilege level, which can be one of the following:

Full access (super-user). This is the default.

Port-configuration access.

Read-only access.

To configure user accounts, you must be logged into the Brocade Virtual ADX as a user with
super-user access (privilege level 0, or with a valid Enable password for super-user access).
Super-user access allows you to add user accounts for other access levels and make further
administrative changes.
