Basic GSLB for IPv6 configuration

2

Preserving optimized IPv6 processing with IPv6 GSLB

By default, when you enable IPv6 GSLB on the Brocade Virtual ADX, the Brocade Virtual ADX
disables the optimized IPv6 path and redirects SLB IPv6 packets to the non-optimized path used by
GSLB IPv6 traffic. The directing of the SLB traffic to the non-optimized path adversely impacts the
IPv6 SLB system performance. Also, SSL uses the optimized IPv6 path and cannot be deployed on
the GSLB Brocade Virtual ADX.

The gslb optimize slb-ipv6 enable command enables the optimized IPv6 path on the GSLB Brocade
Virtual ADX. When the optimized IPv6 path is enabled, it can process SLB IPv6 packets for optimal
IPv6 traffic performance and the deployment of IPv6 SSL on the GSLB ADX with IPv6 GSLB.

Virtual ADX(config)# gslb optimize slb-ipv6 enable

Warning: IPv6 optimization turned On. Existing IPv6 sessions would break.

NOTE

Using the gslb optimize slb-ipv6 enable command impacts existing IPv6 traffic flows. When IPv6
optimization is enabled, existing IPv6 sessions will break and the client may observe momentary
delays in processing flows. Retransmissions and new IPv6 traffic from the client will work properly.
Brocade recommends that you enter the gslb optimize slb-ipv6 enable command during a
maintenance window to minimize impact to the client.

Syntax: [no] gslb optimize slb-ipv6 enable

Observe the following considerations when using the gslb optimize slb-ipv6 enable command:

You can use the gslb optimize slb-ipv6 enable command to enable the optimized IPv6 path
before or after configuring GSLB.

-

When you use the command before configuring GSLB, the optimized IPv6 path remains
enabled when you configure GSLB.

-

When you configure GSLB before you use the command, the optimized IPv6 path is
disabled. To enable the use of the IPv6 path on the GSLB Brocade Virtual ADX, you must
enter the command.

If the optimized processing of the IPv6 traffic is disabled by another feature and you attempt to
enable it with the gslb optimize slb-ipv6 enable command, this command will have no effect
and the following message is displayed:

Information: Command will not take effect as IPv6 optimized path is already

disabled because of other feature. Refer "show native-ipv6 feature" for more

details.

To display the status of GSLB IPv6 optimization and the optimized IPv6 path, and the GSLB
redirects and translation packet counters, refer to

“Displaying IPv6 optimization information.”
