Test Video amplifier stability
Method The two black-and-white windows should show
sharp transitions between the smaller box and the
s u r r o u n d i n g w i n d o w . S t r e a k i n g m a y b e a n
indication of undershoot or overshoot while ghost
images may indicate a ringing problem.
Test Excessive overscan and off-center alignment
Method The entire border should be clearly visible on the
face of the tube and not be hidden by the edge of
the glass or by any bezel.
Test Interlace flicker
Method The horizontal 1 On - 1 Off stripes in the resolution
boxes should not have objectionable flicker when
shown with an interlaced format. Excessive flicker
indicates that the combination of the display’s CRT
persistence and frame scan rate is below the
persistence time of the human eye.
