This connection blade is available in three license variants:
– Brocade 5450 with 14-port license
– Brocade 5450 with 26-port license (applies only to EMEA market)
– Brocade 5450 with 26 port license and performance bundle (applies
only to EMEA market)
– Connection Blade 8Gb FC Pass Thru18/18
– 18 internal 8-Gbit ports to the server blades
– 18 external ports through 8-Gb SFP+ modules or 4-Gb SFP modules

Fibre Channel connection blades can only be installed in slots CB3/4
(fabric 2) and CB5/6 (fabric 3) and only support server blades that are
fitted with a Fibre Channel mezzanine card.

Infiniband connection blade
– Connection Blade Infiniband Switch 40 Gb 18/18
– 18 internal 40-Gbit Infiniband ports to the server blades
– 18 external 40-Gbit Infiniband connections through QSFP modules

Infiniband connection blades can only be used in the slots CB 3/4, CB
5/6 and CB 7/8, see
figure "Connection blade slots" on page 117
They only support server blades that are fitted with an Infiniband
mezzanine card.

SAS connection blade
– Connection Blade SAS Switch 6 Gb 18/6
– 18 internal 6-Gbit ports to the server blades and storage blades
– 6 external 6-Gbit/s SAS connectors

The SAS connection blade allows connection of multiple targets such
as SX980 S1 storage blade and initiators through a switched device.
SAS connection blades can only be used in the slots CB 5/6, see
figure "Connection blade slots" on page 117
. They only support
server blades that are fitted with a SAS HBA mezzanine card or SAS
RAID mezzanine card.
The connection blades support hot-swapping. By installing two connection
blades in two adjacent slots (not possible with Infiniband connection blades),
you can provide redundant network connections for the server blades (for
details, see section
"Connection blades" on page 91
).
