Fax Operation (Various Functions)
If the call is from a telephone…
3. A bell will ring in the fax for about 25 seconds.
* If the telephone receiver is not picked up while this bell is still
ringing, the facsimile will switch to fax reception.
4. Pick up the receiver and speak with the other party.
At the end of the conversation, fax reception may be initiated
manually.
If you hear a fax tone…
3. Fax reception will begin.
After a separately purchased telephone with answering machine
capabilities rings a designated number of times, and if the call is
from a facsimile, fax reception will begin automatically. If the call is
from a telephone, the functions of the answering machine will
engage. Thus, even when you are not in, the caller will be able to
leave a message on your answering machine.
* TAD reception is only possible if a separately purchased
telephone with answering machine capabilities is connected to
this fax.
* It is recommended that the number of times the fax is set to ring
in the TAD reception mode be adjusted to a number GREATER
than the setting for the number of rings of the answering machine
itself. If it is set to ring fewer times than the answering machine,
there is a possibility that the answering machine may not
respond.
* Refer to the Instruction Manual for the telephone in use for details
on the number of rings, recording and listening to messages, etc.
* When using an answering machine in conjunction with this
facsimile, use the telephone jack located at the rear of the unit to
connect the answering machine to the fax.
* If the answering machine capabilities of the telephone are turned
ON, MAKE SURE that, in the first minute after the telephone
answers the incoming call, there are no silent pauses of 9
seconds or more in either the message you record or the
message you receive. If there is such a pause, the silence
detection function of the fax will be activated and the facsimile
will switch to fax reception.
