Using Devices
If you use EDIUS with other devices in such cases as capturing from a video camera or output using input/output
hardware, editing environments must be set up before you start editing.

Hardware products by other manufacturers are also supported. For camera and hardware products whose
operations have been checked, visit the Grass Valley website.
Using Camera or VTR for Capturing or Recording
To set up the environment to use EDIUS with other devices for capturing from a camera or exporting to tape, the
devices to be used with EDIUS must be registered. See the Hardware Setting Guide for more details.
Perform Capturing or Monitor Output using Hardware
You can perform capturing or monitor output using video input/output hardware devices manufactured by Grass Valley
or other manufacturers. In EDIUS, you can output the video being edited to a monitor in full frame and full resolution in
real time, which enables easy previewing for adjustment of colors or timing for cuts.
For hardware installation or connection to a monitor, see the instruction manual attached to your device.
Some hardware products may require settings on EDIUS or its application, to be recognized by EDIUS. For details, visit
the Grass Valley website or the instruction manual attached to your product.
Storing Device Presets
For device presets, store and manage the connection information of external devices used for capturing or exporting
(cameras, decks, web cameras, microphones, and input/output hardware products) as the presets. By using the device
presets stored, capturing and exporting operations can be performed smoothly.
Be sure to register device presets before capturing or tape output.
For details on the settings, see the Hardware Setting Guide.

External equipment in which file-based video or audio are recorded (removable media such as CD/DVD, SD
memory card) are not required to be stored as device presets, as the files can be stored to EDIUS using the bin
or source browser.
• If you use a hardware product by a manufacturer other than Grass Valley, settings besides for EDIUS may be
required. For details, visit the Grass Valley website or see the instruction manual attached to your product.
