Providing Coax Connectivity Through the CSS32
Coax connectivity to the CCA-3074 is provided by the CSS32 coax subsystem. The
CSS32 is a standalone platform with its own power supply and configuration. It can be
rack mounted near the CCA-3074 using an Ethernet crossover connection or connected
through an isolated Ethernet switch/hub to keep it off the corporate network, or it can be
networked to a remote location if necessary. Communication between the CSS32 and the
CCA-3074 is through a series of TN3270 sessions. The CSS32 typically provides 32 coax
ports, each port associated with a single TN3270 session into the CCA-3074. The CSS32
is preconfigured in the factory to simplify its installation and use.
The factory configuration is detailed in Appendix A, as well as information to allow you
to alter the factory configuration. In short, IP addresses and TN3270 port numbers that
should be used to allow the use of the factory configuration are detailed. For smoother
operation of the CSS32, it is best to not require User ID and passwords for connections
associated with the CSS32. (This presumes that coax connections will be located in
secure areas such as the data center.)
