Framework Preparation / Conditioning

Framework preparation

The stipulations of the manufacturer of the zirconium oxide regarding framework fabrication and preparation for
veneering must be observed. When using, for example, IPS e.max ZirCAD, please observe the notes on finishing and
regeneration firing in the respective Instructions for Use.
The completely sintered zirconium oxide framework is fitted on the model. Do not shorten the cervical margin to the
inner edge of chamfer or shoulder preparation (see image of the premolar).

Please observe the following procedure:
– Make sure that the minimum framework thickness is maintained even after minor adjustments.
– Check marginal areas and slightly finish, if necessary.
– Do not “post-separate” the bridge framework with separating disks after sintering, since this may result in

predetermined breaking points, which will subsequently compromise the stability of the restoration.

– Thoroughly blast the framework with Al

, 80-100 microns (Ivoclar Vivadent Special Jet Medium) at max. 1 bar

(15 psi) pressure.

– Only tap off any residue; do not blast or rinse with water to clean the framework.
– The framework must be free of dirt and grease. Any contamination after cleaning must be prevented.

Sandblasting improves the mechanical bond. After blasting, remove blasting medium residue by tapping off and not by
cleaning with steam or an air gun.
