Controlling Your Optical

Power Meter Remotely

³

The Optical Power Meter can be remotely controlled either by

³

a GPIB interface (through a GPIB cable connected to the GPIB port); or

³

an RS-232 interface (through a serial cable connected to the serial
port).

The commands used in both protocols are the same and are described in
the following pages. When the Optical Power Meteris being remotely
controlled, Remote appears in the lower left corner of the display.

Note: If you have already designed a GPIB program to control a power meter

from EXFO’s IQ Series (IQ-1100, IQ-1200, or IQ-1500), you can reuse
sections for the PM-1100 Optical Power Meter.
