1-2 Introduction
Introduction
The i.LON 100 Internet Server is a low-cost, high performance interface that
connects L
ON
W
ORKS
based everyday devices to the Internet, a LAN, or a WAN.
Appliances, meters, load controls, lights, security systems, pumps, valves –
virtually any electrical device – can be connected through the i.LON 100 Internet
Server to an IP network or the Internet. This allows a service center to
configure, monitor, and control everyday devices from across the room, or across
the globe.
i.LON 100 Internet Server Capabilities
The i.LON 100 Internet Server provides the following capabilities:
• Alarming – The i.LON 100 Internet Server can trigger alarms based on
inputs from L
ON
W
ORKS
devices or its built-in hardware inputs. In response
to an alarm condition, the i.LON 100 server can be configured to in turn
update any network variable in the L
ON
W
ORKS
network, update Web pages,
log the conditions to one or more data logs, or send out emails notifying
recipients of the alarms and the conditions that triggered them. Alarms can
be configured to shut off automatically when certain conditions are met or
they can be configured to require manual clearance via a Web page. See the

i.LON 100 Configuration Plug-in and the i.LON 100 User’s Guide: Using the
i.LON 100 Web Pages to Configure Applications and to Monitor and Control
Data Points for more information.
• Data Logging – The i.LON 100 Internet Server can log data points from
devices on a L
ON
W
ORKS
network. These logs can be downloaded using the
Internet File Transfer Protocol (FTP), retrieved using a SOAP/XML Web
service, or displayed on a Web page. See the i.LON 100 User’s Guide:

Plug-in and the i.LON 100 User’s Guide: Using the i.LON 100 Web Pages to
Configure Applications and to Monitor and Control Data Points for more
information.
• Scheduling – The i.LON 100 Internet Server can be used to create daily and
weekly schedules, as well as exception schedules and override schedules.
These schedules can drive the inputs to any L
ON
W
ORKS
device. See the

i.LON 100 Web Pages to Configure Applications and to Monitor and Control
Data Points for more information.
• Digital Input/Output – The i.LON 100 Internet Server contains 2 built-in
digital inputs and 2 built-in digital relay outputs. These can be used to
provide L
ON
W
ORKS
functionality to non-L
ON
W
ORKS
devices. See the i.LON

100 Web Pages to Configure Applications and to Monitor and Control Data
Points for more information.
• Type Translation – The i.LON 100 Internet Server contains Type Translator
functional blocks. These functional blocks can be configured to translate data
from one data type to another. See the i.LON 100 User’s Guide: Configuring
