Playing back a tape

Before starting
• If the VCR and the TV are connected with only an aerial
cable, press TVA/CR to display “VCR” in the display
window.
• Check that the OUTPUT SYSTEM buttons is pressed
corresponding to the color system of your TV.

Insert

The power turns on automatically.
Playback starts immediately if the erasure prevention tab
has been removed from the cassette.

Press ► PLAY to start playback.
To stop playback
Press ■ STOP.
If the picture has an abnormal color
Check the color system setting. See “Setting the color
system” on page 25.
If you cannot i ; l *1 a clear playback
Although the VCR adjusts the tracking automatically, you
may need to adjust the tracking manually if the tape quality
is too poor.
While the VCR is adjusting the tracking automatically, “A­
TR” (Automatic Tracking) flashes in the display window. It
lights steadily after the adjustment is complete.

If “A-TR” keeps flashing for some time, try manual tracking.
To adjust the tracking manually
During playback, press TRACKING +/- repeatedly until you
get the best possible picture.
(Automatic Tracking is canceled and “A-TR” goes off.)
To return to automatic tracking
Press A-TR.
• When the tape reaches the end during playback, fast-forward,
or forward search, the VCR automatically rewinds the tape to
the beginning, ejects the cassette, and turns the power off.
• “A-TR” does not appear while playing unrecorded portions of
tape.
• The VCR selects the tape speed, SP, EP or LP,
automaticaly.
• When a cassette is inserted, the clock display in the display
window changes to tape counter display.
