In Site C above, you see a field station that combines meteorological and water quality sensors with
a 6200 DCP mounted to the guardrail of a bridge. A 2” diameter steel pipe is secured to the bridge
rail and the 6200 enclosure, the MET suite and solar panel are secured to the pipe using mounting
hardware included with the components. The sonde is protected from the swift moving water using
PVC conduit attached to the bridge support near the water. Once lowered into position only the
lower portion of the sonde is exposed to the water.
Meteorological parameters include wind speed and direction, relative humidity, air temperature and
barometric pressure. Water quality parameters include DO, temperature, conductivity, pH, ORP,
nitrate, ammonia and chloride. Data are transferred via a cellular Modem communication link and
power to the station is supplied by battery that is charged by the solar panel.
