Field Validations
Some or all of the fields on a document may be configured with validation rules. For
example, a particular field may be defined as being a date. If you enter an invalid
value in the field, the field background becomes red and a description of the
validation is displayed on the status bar:

Depending on how the batch has been configured, the status bar background may
also turn red and additional red description labels may be displayed elsewhere on
the screen.
Release Error [Escape]
The batch may be configured so that when fields fail validation, the keyboard is
locked. When this happens, you cannot continue until you have released the error by
using this function. If you hit any other key whilst the keyboard is locked, the system
will beep. This helps to prevent you wasting keystrokes when keying at high speed.

Field Exception [F7]
If you have entered an invalid value, you have three choices:
Enter a valid value instead, for example if the value has been mis-keyed.
Clear the value in the field and leave it blank.
Mark the field as an exception.
Marking the field as an exception overrides any validation defined for the field. It
also overrides the mandatory status of a field, so if you have a mandatory field
