Section 2: Cut Pickup Bed Opening
Follow Steps 12 through 16 only if the vehicle does not have an opening in
the bed above the license plate per Figure 6

12. Remove tailgate retaining straps. With an
assistant, remove the tailgate by lifting away
from lower tension pins. Set tailgate aside.
13. Measure 21 inches from the left edge and
1¼ inches from the top and make a
temporary mark on the pickup bed (Figure
7).

14. Center punch the mark and drill a pilot
hole. Next, cut a 1 inch opening with a hole
saw (Figure 8).

15. Clean the rough edges of the opening with
a deburring tool. Apply supplied Z-tech with a
small brush (Figure 9).

16. With the aid of an assistant, reinstall
tailgate on tension pins and reattach straps.
