1–10 Terminal Overview

An application design engineer creates applications for the
MessageView terminal using the MessageBuilder Configuration
Software (Catalog No. 2706-MB1) on a personal computer.
An application consists of messages which are created and linked so
that together they can display the status of an operation. The
application also configures the terminal ports and defines the
relationship between each variable and its logic controller address.
The application is associated with a project, which defines the
terminal and the devices connected to its ports.
Each message has its own display attributes, with graphic symbols,
variable data displays, and variable data entry fields as required. The
display attributes and data entry fields may be modified by the
terminal operator, and will be discussed later in this manual.
When a message is triggered, it may appear in the terminal display, it
may be sent to the Historical Event stack, and/or it may have other
functions.
